Took CRV Pelorus out to do night time navigation in slight conditions to familiarise crew members with the approach into the Plimmerton Boating Club at night.

There are no navigation lights to aid in the approach to the launching ramp at PBC and as it was used as a landing point during the rescue of the crew from the sinking yacht a few weeks back it was helpful to identify the safe approach angles and places to avoid.

Crew members were then asked to plot a safe circumnavigation route on the GPS that took us around Tokaapapa Reef and back in on the leads into Mana Marina.

In separate session the SAR team carried out Navigational training. This included chart work, tides, ploting courses and radio procedures
